Project tracking sucks. Use Delivery Maps
Original post: Project tracking sucks. Use Delivery Maps
In the tech world of Jira tickets, Francesco Usai proposes a new way to visualize project execution: Delivery Maps.
The goal was to create a view that anyone in the company could quickly grasp and use it to answer the fateful question: How is it going?
The fantastic thing about this tool was that external people, knowing nothing about the projects, could infer not only if the project was on track but also if there was any risk of missing the deadline.
Unlike traditional tools, delivery maps have what it takes to:
- Show the bigger picture and dependencies (unlike Jira and similar tools)
- Communicate risk (unlike Gantt charts)
- Be objective (unlike status reports)
This is a great way to visualize complexity (in Francesco’s words). Well done!
